Tree Surfers Juniors – its first birthday!

Happy Birthday Tree Surfers Junior.

When we launched a junior version of Tree Surfers last summer we had no idea what a massive response it would get.
The concept was a simple one…to offer something that was still high up in the trees with rope bridges, help zip lines, visit web walkways and obstacles, treat just smaller scale to suit smaller scale people. Oh, and be the first place in the South West to do so.
We wanted to incorporate the same element of challenge and adventure that was injected into the original Tree Surfers course, creating a tree canopy playground but this time for kids rather than big kids. Providing an attraction where families can enjoy a really great day out in the great outdoors amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in Devon.
The family activities don’t end with the high ropes of course. Younger visitors (six years and over) can test their mettle on the Tree Jump and Big Zip, or learn a new skill such as Archery.
As well as proving popular for active family days out – we’ve had nearly 3,000 youngsters try out the junior ropes in the first year – Tree Surfers Junior has been a huge hit for birthday parties, catering for children as young as four years old.
In response, we created a birthday party package for groups of six or more. This costs £24 per child and includes an hour on the junior high ropes course plus the Big Zip. You can add another activity (such as Archery or Tree Jump) or an awesome birthday tea in the Beech Café for an extra cost. Since we opened the course last June, we’ve hosted over 100 parties. See more information about birthday parties here.
We’ve even welcomed local schools; Gulworthy and Lamerton primary schools had the genius idea of swapping their regular PE lessons for weekly archery, tree surfing and mountain biking sessions for a term, using a Government sports premium grant.
Who can do it?
The Junior High Ropes course is aimed at the under 12s and is suitable for children 4 years (or 1m tall) and upwards. The under 6s must be joined by an adult on the course but those 7 and over can face the challenge alone.
What’s the cost?
£16 per person, adult or child, which includes an hour on the course.
